1. Kindness Week Begins on Monday!

Kindness Week is coming to Wayside February 22-26! Join in the fun of the Great Kindness Challenge Spirit Week! Also this week, all students will have the opportunity to take part in the Wayside Community Service project sponsored by the PTA. Students will make greeting cards during class time to donate to Cards for Hospitalized Kids. For a sneak peek of the community service project, see this flyer.

2. Nominating Committee Seeks 2021-2022 PTA Board Members

The Nominating Committee is seeking PTA members who are interested in serving on the PTA Board next year. The following positions are open for 2021-2022:
  • President: Oversees the functioning of the Executive Board. Chairs the monthly executive board and general membership meetings. Acts as main liaison with the school’s administration.
  • Secretary: Responsible for the documentation of all PTA business, e.g., agenda and minutes for monthly executive board and general membership meetings.

4. Talent Show Reminder

5. Reflections Update

6. Wayside Chess Tournament! 

The Wayside chess tournament yesterday was a success! Sixteen Wayside students played in this tournament and had a lot of fun. Many thanks to Tao Deng for organizing the tournament.

8. Spirit Night at Moby Dick’s House of Kabob on March 11- TWO LOCATIONS!

The next Wayside Spirit Night will be Thursday, March 11 at Moby Dick’s at both the Potomac Village and Fallsgrove locations. You can order three different ways: (1) in the store, (2) by telephone, or (3) online (but if you order online you must call the restaurant afterwards to tell them your order is for Wayside’s Spirit Night).  If you order in the store or by phone, you must mention Wayside Elementary. The Wayside PTA will receive 20% of proceeds from the evening.  Moby Dick has some great family meal deals, so please consider checking them out for our next spirit night!

9. Kids Adventures Academy at Wayside

Kids Adventures Academy located at Wayside Elementary School is accepting children 6 weeks of age to 5 years. We follow The Creative Curriculum for Preschool and The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers & Twos. Our programs follow MCPS Administrative Offices for school closures and Holidays. All our programs follow 378771`CDC & DHHS COVID-19 regulations.

11. It Takes A Village

Bingo Night was a blast, thanks to our guest star bingo callers: Ms. Hill, Ms. Fitzgerald, Mrs. Weinbaum, Mr. Appel, Ms. Claus, Ms. Hedgepeth, Ms. Drannan, Ms. Macro, Mr. Zelin, Ms. Deutsch, Ms. Steeger, and Ms. Rhoads! The PTA is grateful to Melissa Adler for organizing Bingo Night and all of the bingo bags that were distributed to students!
