4. Read-A-Thon & National Library Week: Be a Guest Reader at Lunch!
Throughout National Library Week and Wayside’s Read-A-Thon, we are inviting caregivers to read to the Dolphins during lunch!  Please sign up to share your favorite (age appropriate) books while the students eat their lunches.  Students can log the minutes from these read alouds as they are engaged in a reading experience.
Only volunteers who are signed up can read during lunch!  You must have completed the required MCPS volunteer training in order to participate.

5. Corporate Sponsors Wanted for Read-A-Thon!
Get READ-y! Wayside’s Read-A-Thon is starting soon!  From Friday, April 5th through Saturday, April 13th, the Wayside Dolphins and community will be reading more minutes than ever before while raising funds for the PTA!  Students will be reading in school and at home, logging their minutes along the way.  There will be competitions, prizes, spirit days and a Potato Book Character Contest to top it off as we simultaneously celebrate National Library Week.  Want to read while enjoying dinner at Shack Shake?  Well on April 9th, you can do just that!

Funds will support Wayside’s Media Center, our teacher’s wish lists, 5th grade end-of-year activities, assemblies and more!  We have a fundraising goal of $8,000 and a goal of 50,000 minutes read!  Do you think we can do it?!  We know we can!

In order to get us started, we are seeking corporate sponsors to kick off the event!  Please see the flyer below and follow the instructions on how to get your company’s name out into the broader community, all while supporting Wayside!

Questions?  Please contact Jax at president@waysidepta.org

6. Gift Cards Needed for Teacher Appreciation Week
While the snow may still be melting on our lawns, the Teacher Appreciation Committee is hard at work preparing for Teacher Appreciation Week occurring May 6-10th.  As part of the appreciation events, we like to provide each Wayside Staff member with a $25 gift card to Amazon or Target.  Please sign up now to donate gift cards to our incredibly devoted staff who provide our students with knowledge, joy and a healthy learning environment.
All gift cards should be brought to the main office in an envelope clearly labeled by April 26th.  Gift cards will not go directly to your child’s teacher but will go to a staff member at Wayside.
