1. 50 Gift Cards Still Needed for Teacher Appreciation Week
The Teacher Appreciation Committee is hard at work preparing for Teacher Appreciation Week occurring May 6-10th.  As part of the appreciation events, we like to provide each Wayside Staff member with a $25 gift card to Amazon or Target.  Please sign up now to donate gift cards to our incredibly devoted staff who provide our students with knowledge, joy and a healthy learning environment.
All gift cards should be brought to the main office in an envelope clearly labeled by April 26th.  Gift cards will not go directly to your child’s teacher but will go to a staff member at Wayside.

2. It Takes A Village
–Thank you to Helena Lopez for planning a fabulous Shake Shack Spirit Night!  Wayside raised over $500!

–Thank you to Michele Boudreaux for being our PTA Eats driver so many of our staff could enjoy Shake Shack for lunch.

–Throughout Read-A-Thon we have had several Guest Readers share their favorite stories with the Wayside Dolphins.  Thank you to: Sharon Chang, Amanda, Burks, Jun Chu, Ginny Bonifacino and Mara Stein Labourdette for helping our students log more reading minutes this week.

–Thank you to our Potato Contest helpers who helped collect and organize over 60 Book Character Potato creations!  We couldn’t have done it without the help of: Gisselle Gutierrez, Sharon Chang and Sylvia Florez.

8. MCCPTA Seeks Candidates to Serve as Winston Churchill Cluster Coordinators for the 2024-2025 School Year
A Winston Churchill Cluster Coordinator works with local PTAs in the cluster (Bells Mill ES, Beverly Farms ES, Potomac ES, Seven Locks ES, Wayside ES, Cabin John MS, Hoover MS, and Winston Churchill HS) regarding compliance, transition support, advocacy (specific advocacy to school, testimony for MCPS Capital Improvement Programs and MCPS Operating Budget), guidance, and more.  Interested?  Please contact Susan Lifsey at SusanLifsey@gmail.com.
