1. Celebration of the Arts is on May 11th
Please attend Wayside’s Celebration of the Arts; “Life is Sweet” on Thursday, May 11th from 6:30-8:30 pm!  View your artists’ work that will be professionally framed under glass and take selfies at our student designed selfie station!  Be sure to listen to the fourth grade chorus perform outside in the courtyard, enjoy dinner from Potomac Pizza or Silver & Sons BBQ food truck and visit the Kona Ice food truck for a sweet dessert!  It’s a night to remember with a community you can never forget!

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards supporting our school’s art program, providing essential resources and enabling us to organize more creative opportunities for our students.

View, share and pre purchase your children’s artwork by visiting: https://artomestore.com/collections/waysideelementary20854

Volunteers are still needed

Wayside’s Celebration of Arts Night is Thursday, May 11th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  In order for this to be a huge success, we are looking for a few more adults to volunteer!  Please sign up here.  If you have any questions, please contact Jackie Stief at activities@waysidepta.org.

8. Special Education Parents Asked to Complete State Survey
Parents or guardians of children aged 3 to 21 who are receiving special education and related services through their local school are encouraged to participate in the Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey by Friday, May 19.

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has mailed the survey to all parents/guardians of students with an IEP in Montgomery County. The information provided will help guide the state’s efforts in improving special education and related services in public schools.

There are two options to complete the survey:

  • Complete the survey online at https://www.mdparentsurvey.com.

  • Complete the hard copy of the survey for your child’s grade and mail it back in the postage-paid envelope received from MSDE by Friday, May 19.

Participation is voluntary and anonymous. Parents are asked to complete a separate survey for each child receiving services.

For additional information, please contact Kenneth Hudock at MSDE at 410-767-7770 or Kenneth.Hudock@maryland.gov.
