The Wayside PTA is providing information on enrichment opportunities in our community as a courtesy to parents. The Wayside PTA does not endorse or recommend any enrichment opportunities.

Big Learning 
Big Learning is offering virtual classes this fall in FLES Foreign Language and Science & Engineering. Classes begin October 5th. There will be several time options available since classes will be held over Zoom. Registration link can be found here.

Education Connects – Chinese Immersion After School Programs

Fall Outdoor HoopEd Programs: Learn, Sweat, Play
HoopEd will be offering Learn, Sweat, Play, an afternoon program where kids can play and socialize with kids and coaches every day of the week. Kids will be separated in groups of no more than 15 and will engage in all sorts of activities from kickball, soccer skills, flag football, and wiffle ball to relay races, capture the flag, old school kick the can and much more! Locations are in Rockville, Chevy Chase, Kensington and Silver Spring. Click here for more details and to register. Email chris@hoopeducation.com if you have any questions.

FLEX Academies
With no on-site options available, districts are faced with decisions about how to put together safe, online, and fun programs to meet the needs of families out of school time. For over a decade, hundreds of schools have relied on Flex Academies for their school-based enrichment programs. Our new online enrichments allow you to offer the same great, trusted programming to your families, from the comfort and safety of their own homes.

Generation Z Tutoring Club
Generation Z Tutoring Club, run by Richard Montgomery High School students, will be offering free tutoring during the 2020-2021 school year. Tutors can offer help in a wide variety of subjects, including math, grammar, reading, writing, science, social studies, and several foreign languages. See more information here.

Girl Scouts
Families in the Wayside area—looking for a way for your daughter to connect with other girls virtually? Troops have spaces and we are forming new troops for girls in the Wayside area this fall so girls can make new friends and connect with one another. Want to learn more? InnovateX Virtual After School Program
InnovateX was founded by a group of Churchill high school students to spark a passion for entrepreneurship within the next generation of changemakers. Lessons encourage active participation through our engaging activities and mini competitions. See the InnovateX flyer here.

Kids Adventures Academy
Kids Adventures Academy located at Wayside Elementary School is accepting children 6 weeks of age to 5 years. We follow The Creative Curriculum for Preschool and The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers & Twos.  Our programs follow MCPS Administrative Offices for school closures and Holidays. MSA will be running Outdoor Sports Programs at Wayside ES (socially distanced).
There will be basketball on Mondays, soccer on Wednesdays, tennis on Fridays and street hockey on Fridays.

QuaranTeen Tutors
Silver Spring Cares has launched QuaranTeen Tutors, a program that matches  middle and high school student tutors with student learners who might need some extra help getting through this school year. Learn more about QuaranTeen Tutors

Silver Knights

The Cathay School
By popular demand, The Cathay School will offer virtual enrichment classes in the Fall 2020, beginning August 31st to December 20th. Courses will be one hour long, from 4:30PM to 5:30PM, cover useful and unique topics, and be taught by our highly qualified instructors.

Wayside CDC Childcare
Wayside CDC Childcare will open on Sept 14. It will be open from 8:30-4:30 during the first semester. If you need support, please contact them directly.  See the CDC flyer here.

Young Artists Music Society
Young Artists Music Society (YAMS) is offering Music Theory Class starting on September 21, 2020, from 4-4:30 p.m., held every Monday and Thursday. These classes are a YAMS Fundraiser so there will be a small tuition for each lesson.
