2. Register for Spring Enrichments

Several new programs are being offered this spring, so there is a lot of choice!
For more information and to register visit KIDDO.

3. Spring Scholastic Book Fair – Volunteers Needed!

Wayside’s Spring Book Fair will be held from April 4th to April 8th. Kids will be shopping at the Fair in the Media Center from 9:30am to 3pm in small groups. Our Book Fair accepts cash, credit card, and check payments. Parents can also set up an E- Wallet account for their kids. It’s a convenient digital account that kids can use to shop at the Book Fair.  To set up one for your child today, please visit our Book Fair Homepage .

We still need some volunteers for Monday and Tuesday morning and afternoon.  Even if you can only help out for an hour, please use the link to sign up. In order to help in-person, volunteers need to upload the proof of vaccination and complete the mandatory MCPS Parent Volunteer Training.

Thank you so much for inspiring kids to read and help the Wayside PTA earn rewards that directly go back to the school and students!

4. Staff Appreciation Week: Seeking Donations!

Staff Appreciation Week is the first week of May, and we want to show our AMAZING Wayside staff how much their hard work means to us. Various treats and surprises are planned for them throughout the week. In addition, we plan to provide each staff member with a gift card. Please show your support by contributing $20 (maximum) gift cards to a store of your choice. Or, please feel free to contribute any dollar amount to be put toward gift cards and other staff appreciation items. Items can be dropped off at Wayside’s front office until April 22nd. Please sign up here to let us know it’s coming! Thanks for showing your appreciation for our staff!

5. Save the Date! Spirit Night at Founding Farmers on April 7th!

It’s time for another Wayside Spirit Night to support the Wayside PTA!  The next Spirit night will be at MOCO Founding Farmers at Park Potomac.  Wayside parents can place an order online for pick up or delivery directly with the restaurant using the code “WAYSIDE 15” on April 7th. If guests dine in the restaurant they should mention the same code “WAYSIDE15” when they order.  Founding Farmers will give back 15% of the total food and beverage sales for all orders with the code to the Wayside PTA.  Please note: Third Party orders do not apply to the promotion.

7. Questionnaire for the 2022 MCCPTA/LWV Board of Education Candidates Forum

The Montgomery County Council of PTAs (MCCPTA) is partnering again with the League of Women Voters (LWV) to sponsor a spring forum (currently scheduled for April 25, 2022) for the candidates for the Board of Education. This year’s forum will be focused squarely on MCCPTA’s Adopted 2021-2022 Advocacy Priorities (click the link to get definitions of the categories in the questionnaire).

To ensure that the candidates speak to the issues of greatest importance to us, MCCPTA is interested in hearing your thoughts on what questions to ask each candidate. Please submit your recommended questions via this form by April 4. You DO NOT need to submit questions for each of the seven categories.

Many thanks in advance for your thoughtful responses!

8. Navigating the Virtual Playground: Healthy Choices and Worrisome Pitfalls for Today’s Youth

Cyberbullying + Texting + Screen Time + Toxic images = Yikes! As technology grows and adapts, children are growing and adapting right along with it. The online highway can have some steep learning curves for students and for parents. Youth can find themselves in over their head as technology choices move faster than their developmental abilities. Technology isn’t a bad thing, but young people need help in navigating this tool so that their empathy and sense of self can also grow and develop.

Join us on Tuesday, March 29th at 8 p.m. for Navigating the Virtual Playground: Healthy Choices and Worrisome Pitfalls for Today’s Youth. This presentation details the risks students are facing, and practical, positive ways that adults can respond. This training is for parents, caregivers, grandparents and educators.
