Wayside students will have a short Halloween celebration with their classes on Friday, October 30 with Halloween crafts and treats provided by the Wayside PTA. Families can pick up their students’ Halloween goodies when they pick up the math materials at Wayside this week. Here are the distribution dates:

Tuesday, October 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Last names of A through H

Wednesday, October 28 from 8:30 a.m.  to 2:30 p.m. Last names of I through Q

Thursday, October 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Last names R through Z

 2. Share Your Halloween Photos!

Although we’ll miss our traditional Halloween parade this year, we’d still love to see our students’ costumes! Send your Halloween photos to president@waysidepta.org, and we’ll include them in next week’s Waves and on the PTA Facebook page.

 3. School Directories Are Here!

The AtoZ school directories have arrived and will be distributed at Wayside at the same time as the math materials distribution (see dates and times above). Directories are for PTA members only. Did you forget to join the PTA? It’s not too late…find directions here.

 4. Save the Date: Teacher Reading Night on November 11

Join us on Wednesday, November 11 for Teacher Reading Night, when Wayside teachers and staff will read some favorite bedtime stories! This is always a highlight of our annual Scholastic Book Fair, which will be online this year November 6-19.

 5. PTA General Membership Meeting on November 11

Our PTA bylaws require us to have four PTA general membership meetings per year, and our first one will be on November 11 at the beginning of the Teacher Reading Night. We’ll keep it brief, and give highlights of what the PTA is planning this school year.

 6. Wayside Spirit Wear Online Year-round!

You can purchase Wayside spirit wear at any time in our online store, including our special Zooming into 2020 t-shirt! Contact logowear@waysidepta.org with questions.

 7. Reflections

For more than 50 years, National PTA has celebrated the imagination and creativity of students through the Reflections program. Reflections is a unique arts-in-education effort as it engages all students, including two age groups for elementary schools: Primary for K through grade 2, and Intermediate for grade 3 through grade 5. The 2020-2021 theme is

I Matter Because…

There are six categories for this friendly competition, and participants can enter in more than one category.

1) Dance Choreography
2) Film Production
3) Literature
4) Music Composition
