The President oversees the functioning of the Executive Board. He/she chairs the monthly executive board and general membership meetings and works with the recording secretary to create the agenda for all PTA meetings with input from the entire executive board. The President is an ex officio member of all PTA committees. The President is the main liaison with the school’s administration. The President is also a delegate to the MCCPTA and holds one of the three (3) county-level votes for Wayside. He/she attends executive board meetings, general membership meetings, cluster meetings and any ad hoc meetings with administration or various subsets of the PTA membership.
First Vice President: Lauren Slavin vicepresident@waysidepta.org
The First Vice President (FVP) will act as aide to the President. The FVP will foster involvement in school activities and programs, ensuring that families feel welcomed and engaged in the school community. The FVP will partner with all other Vice Presidents to ensure the stand up of committees and work to provide a ready list of parent volunteers to support the successful implementation of programs and events. The FVP will also work with the Secretary to ensure an active communication strategy encouraging family and staff participation and involvement.

The recording secretary is responsible for the documentation of all PTA business. In conjunction with the president, s/he creates the agenda for all monthly executive board and general membership meetings. The recording secretary attends both of these meetings, takes attendance, and creates detailed minutes. S/he is also called on to witness and document any special meetings throughout the year that may require minutes.
Treasurer: Jamie Wu treasurer@waysidepta.org
The treasurer is responsible for keeping an accurate and detailed account of all money received and paid out by the PTA. S/he receives and deposits all money paid to the PTA and creates checks for all payments and expense reimbursements made by the PTA. S/he provides a statement of the PTA profit and loss and cash position at each monthly executive board meeting and at each general membership meeting. The Treasurer is responsible for working with the PTA Executive Board and the school administration to establish a yearly operating budget. The Treasurer also coordinates the yearly audit of the PTA book and records. In addition, the Treasurer files an annual federal and quarterly sales tax returns on behalf of the PTA.
VP of Programs: Kristin Silbowitz programs@waysidepta.org
The program chair oversees PTA events. The Program Chair works with the chairperson of the event to ensure the proper space is reserved, to set up needed funds, and to help in any way to ensure the success of the event. This chair also assists the PTA board’s representative to the ICB, which coordinates all rentals of space for activities. S/he attends monthly executive board meetings and general membership meetings.

The VP of Community Enrichment oversees PTA events and activities that enrich the community at large. These include but are not limited to after-school enrichment, Community Service Night and Walk to School Day. They attend monthly executive board meetings and general membership meetings.
VP of Fundraising: Kim Troung fundraising@waysidepta.org
The Vice President of Ways and Means oversees all fundraising events for the Wayside PTA. S/he works with the chairperson of the event to ensure PTA guidelines are followed and to help in any way to ensure the success of the event. S/he attends all executive board meetings and general membership meetings.

The Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VP of DEI) serves as a key leader within the PTA, responsible for advancing the organization’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse community. This role focuses on promoting understanding through the arts, multicultural night, a donation drive for KINDH, and more. The VP of DEI works collaboratively with PTA leadership, school administration, parents, and the broader community to ensure that all voices are represented in the PTA’s initiatives and activities.
**MCCPTA Delegates:

The two delegates are the local PTA’s connection with the county PTA. They attend one MCCPTA (Montgomery County Council of PTAs) meeting per month. They, along with the president, hold the three county-level votes belonging to the school. They attend monthly executive board meetings and general membership meetings to share what occurs at the MCCPTA meetings.
