4. PTA Calendar Updates
STEM Night (4/16/24) has been postponed until the Fall, 2024.  We look forward to collaborating with Wayside teachers to create an incredible evening for our Wayside Dolphins!

Read-A-Thon is coming!  Mark your calendars for April 5-13 to dive into many good books and participate in a variety of reading inspired activities both in school and at home while raising funds for the Wayside PTA!

5. Corporate Sponsors Wanted for Read-A-Thon!
Get READ-y! Wayside’s Read-A-Thon is starting soon!  From Friday, April 5th through Saturday, April 13th, the Wayside Dolphins and community will be reading more minutes than ever before while raising funds for the PTA!  Students will be reading in school and at home, logging their minutes along the way.  There will be competitions, prizes, spirit days and a Potato Book Character Contest to top it off as we simultaneously celebrate National Library Week.  Want to read while enjoying dinner at Shack Shake?  Well on April 9th, you can do just that!

Funds will support Wayside’s Media Center, our teacher’s wish lists, 5th grade end-of-year activities, assemblies and more!  We have a fundraising goal of $8,000 and a goal of 50,000 minutes read!  Do you think we can do it?!  We know we can!

In order to get us started, we are seeking corporate sponsors to kick off the event!  Please see the flyer below and follow the instructions on how to get your company’s name out into the broader community, all while supporting Wayside!

6. It Takes A Village
Multicultural Night was an absolute success! We want to express our gratitude to everyone who attended, participated in the fashion show, represented their country with a table and performed. The night was packed with students of all grades, many teachers and school staff. We hope that everyone had a great time learning about different cultures while indulging in a variety of delicious foods.
We would also like to extend our thanks to the following people for their contributions:

  • Mr. Rodriguez for his assistance with the audio and visuals for the performance and fashion show.
  • Mrs. Violeta Alfaro and her amazing building services team, including Marta Ayala, Tilicia Medina, Valerie Martin and Marisol, for all their help.
  • Ms. Hill for her support with the event and helping us kick off the performances.
  • Mrs. Julie Yang, BOE Member, for taking the time to visit our school and attend the event.
  • Hangry Panda, Sate and SnoBlast for serving up delicious food.
  • Our rockstar SSL volunteers who supported the event.

Lastly, we want to acknowledge the team behind the magic–Paola Duarte, Gisselle Gutierrez, Linda Hayanga, Helena Lopez, Paula Reible, Jing Shi and Heeyeon Yeon. Thank you for all of your hard work to bring this event to life.

We are thrilled to announce that Multicultural Night will be back in 2026! Thank you all, once again, for making this event unforgettable.
