PTA Monthly Message

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  The Wayside PTA Executive Board would like to send a special “thank you” to all our members.  Your support of our Fall events like Sally Foster, the Book Fair, and Spirit Nights is making it possible to fund many exciting things at our school.  You play a vital role in making Wayside a great place for the kids and we appreciate your help!

In the spirit of the season, our December activities focus on “giving back.”   We hope everyone will support Wayside’s many community service efforts this month and throughout the year.

Community Service Night:
This year’s “pet project” is… Pets!   Homeward Trails, an organization that rescues animals from shelters and finds them families, is our 2009 charity.  Each Wayside classroom is collecting money from November 30th –December 7th to be help fund medical bills for the fostered animals.  The money collected will be presented to Homeward Trails on Community Service Night, Tuesday, December 8th at 7pm.  Lynne Gartenhaus from Homeward Trails will speak about fostering and adopting pets in need, and some special animals that have been rescued will pay a visit to our school.  You can also help decorate gifts for the animals and pet supply donations will be collected.  Please consider donating some spare change and/or supplies to our furry friends!

Community Collection
In addition, we are asking our members to help the needy in our extended Wayside community.  At Community Service Night and throughout the year, we will be accepting cash donations, store gift cards, non-perishable food items, gently used winter clothing in men's small, medium and large sizes, women's clothing in sizes 4-6, and gently used household items, such as mattresses, bedding, and computer equipment.  Please bring donations during school hours to the main office and leave them with Mrs. Guevara for distribution.  If you have any large items that can't be left in the office, please bring them to Community Service Night on Tuesday, December 8.
